On September 27, 2014, the 39th Annual Memphis Pride Festival and Parade brought over 10,000 attendees to Robert Church Park in Downtown Memphis, making it one of the largest LGBTQ+ celebrations in the city’s history. With the theme “Reflections of Pride,” the event encouraged the community to look back on past achievements while continuing the fight for equality and inclusion.
The Pride Parade, a centerpiece of the festival, featured over 100 units marching down Beale Street, including floats from local businesses, advocacy groups, and civic organizations. The parade highlighted the growing visibility and inclusivity of LGBTQ+ Memphians, reinforced by strong corporate sponsorship and community support.
The festival itself ran from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering a diverse lineup of entertainment, community resources, and family-friendly activities. The Nike Stage featured performances from Lisa Michaels, the Voices of Visions choir, and a theater production of One Man, Two Guvnors. The event also included a VIP area hosted by Gina Lola Jupiter and Allysun Wunderland, providing a dedicated space for adult attendees.
